Affable staff and prime location to all transport links, everything was perfect. The breakfast offered was delicious with toast and hot options, as for instance. Loved the way our bright and cosy suite in the loft space had to bend over to get to the bathroom was. Good service was provided here.

Proximity to train station, Convenient drop-off area for luggage, Charming historical building ambiance
Noise from the busy street and inconsistent water pressure were bothersome. A few updates to the decor could enhance the overall charm and comfort!!!

The location is very convenient, not far from the center and all the sights. Very courteous young man. All cozy and homemade, delicious...
Little tight, in some places it needs repair.

Stayed at this so-called guest house expecting some sort of pampering but was met with disturbingly loud street noise and unexpected hairs scattered throughout the room. You'd think for the price, I would at least warrant a cute gift or a complimentary upgrade, but I guess that's asking too much. Almost left a good review, but, I just couldn't!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and recommend this hotel. I stayed here for 1 night, the venue was WONDERFUL, with magnificent and incredible location near to the center and bus station, train station and Princess Street and especially the Playhouse theatre and the bus station. Everything was perfect, including delicious and absolutely superb breakfasts with toast and hot options. The room was great-sized and extremely pleasant for private bathroom and my experience was thoroughly enjoyable. All the services were good.

Elder York was a lovely spot for our family getaway! Murray, the owner, was kind and even helped us with our bags. The location was perfect-just a short stroll to the Royal Mile. My grandson really enjoyed the spacious common areas.
In my wife's opinion, the steep stairs were a bit challenging with our family and luggage.

The place is in a great spot, close to a lot of attractions. We played at St Andrews Old Course and visited Bruntsfield. Murray was super helpful and made sure we had a good breakfast to start our days. I recommend trying the local cafes for some good food too!
One downside was the hard bed, made it tough to sleep well.

a decent stay but with notable downsides
Breakfast was quick and very good, with a variety of fresh options each morning. Both Murray and his parents were nice. I appreciated their recommendations for local dining.
the first flight of stairs lacked handrails, a bit tricky to navigate.
